Definition: A short story, usually serving to make the listeners laugh or ponder over a specific topic. An anecdote is generally related to the subject matter being discussed at the time. It can be used to support a claim, if the moral of the story goes along with the claim being made

Example: Oh, I would never dream of assuming I know all Hogwarts’ secrets, Igor. Only this morning, for instance, I took a wrong turn on the way to the bathroom and found myself in a beautifully proportioned room I had never seen before, containing a really rather magnificent collection of chamber pots. When I went back to investigate more closely, I discovered that the room had vanished(Harry Potter, J.K Rowling)
